CRAZY DAYS

Chapter One

In this chapter…

"WOOOOHOOOOOO!!”“This is the most fun thing I have ever done!!”
“Rule number 56,792: Jedi must never, ever, under any circumstances, wear glittery wings.”
“Plain old peanut butter? Peanut butter isn’t plain, it’s AWESOME!”
***
“Is there anything to do?” Padme moaned from the couch in her and Anakin’s apartment.
“Uh…” Anakin looked up from clipping his fingernails. “I’m clipping my fingernails…”
“OOH! Me too!”
Anakin made a face. “What?”
“I wanna clip mine, too!”
“It’s not fun.” Anakin insisted. “I’m just clipping mine because if I don’t I’ll look like Estaban.”
“Oh, ok.” Padme sighed and sat on the couch to study her fingernails.
“How are yours?” Anakin asked. Clip, clip, clip…
Padme shrugged. “They can grow some more. I might clip them tomorrow.”
“Uh…ok…” Clip, clip, clip…
Padme suddenly jumped off of the couch and raced to the calendar. On tomorrow's date she wrote Clip fingernails: important! Do not forget! in bright red marker.
“I wrote it on the calendar so I don’t forget.” Padme smiled. Anakin smiled back.
“It’s always good to be prepared.” Anakin replied.
“I know.” agreed Padme. “That’s why I wrote it on the calendar.”
“Uh-huh.” Anakin said,
Anakin put away the nail clippers and sat down on the couch beside Padme.
“What do we do now?” he asked. Padme shrugged.
“You’re done with your fingernails, right?”
“Right.”
“Then I have no idea.” Padme sighed and put her head in her hands.
“I’m bored, bored, bored…” Anakin complained.
“Maybe we should do something new!” Padme cried, jumping up off of the couch. “I know! We’ll play The Word Game! Think of a word, Anakin.”
“Huh?” Anakin yawned and looked confused.
“Pick any word, just anything.” Padme insisted.
“Okay…fly.”
“Which one?” Padme asked, holding her sparkly pink pen at the ready. “The insect or trhe action?”
“Uh…the action. Fly as in…what spaceships do.”
“Good.” Padme used her sparkly pink pen to write “flying lessons” on the arm of the sofa. Anakin watched her in shock.
“What one earth are you doing??”
“I’m writing it down so we can keep track of ways not to be bored.”
“On the sofa??”
“Please, Ani…??” He couldn’t resist those big, watery brown eyes. He gave in.
“Don’t cry, Padme. It’s okay. You can write on the sofa.”
“Writing on sofas is fuuuuun!!” Padme giggled. Say another word!”
“Uh…what are we gonna do with…flying lessons?”
“Oh, yeah! Hold on, you’ll see!” Padme flew from the room and came back with duck tape, scissors and cardboard cereal boxes. She dumped the cereal onto the floor and cut the boxes into the shape of wings. She then duck-taped them to Anakin’s shoulders.
“Padme, what on earth…”
“Hang on. I’ll get some glitter.”
“Padme…”
But she was already gone and didn’t hear him. The next thing Anakin knew was that a whole pound of hot-pink glitter was being poured down his neck, along with Crazy-Glu.
“Crazy-Glu?! Why did you just put THAT on me??” Anakin demanded to know.
“’Cause CrazyGlu is the stickiest brand of glue anywhere!” Padme immediately launched into a commercial for Crazy-Glu. Holding the bottle high above her head, she proclaimed
“Crazy-Glu, the best, most stickiest-”
“You only say ‘most’ or stickiest, Padme.”
“Uh…ok. Crazy-Glu, the most glue ever!”
“Huh?” Anakin scratched his head. “The most…what?”
“Stickiest.”
“Oh…”
Padme giggled and poured Crazy-Glu in her hair, then glitter.
“Anakin, do I look like a fairy?” she asked, giggling madly.
“Uh…well…fairies have wings…”
Padme raced for more cardboard.
“Cool, so we BOTH can fly!!”
“Uh…Padme?” Anakin tried to look over his shoulder at his glittery cardboard wings. “These things are never gonna work, hon. We’re too heavy for cardboard wings.”
Padme poured one last sprinkle of glitter onto her wings and turned around so Anakin could admire them.
“Uh…pretty, Padme.” Anakin said. “But what are we gonna do with them?”
“You’ll see!” Padme ran out the front door. After a few minutes Anakin went outside.
“Look!!” Padme shouted. Anakin looked up to see an enormous metal structure.
“Where did that come from?” he asked, amazed. Padme had been outside for less than five minutes.
“From my build-your-own-enormous-metal-structure-in-less-than-five-minutes kit.” She showed him the box; it was two inches square. “It was $5.99 on sale at Tagostore.”
“Nice.” Anakin said appreciatively. “what are we gonna do with it?”
“Well…we stand up at the top, grab onto that metal chain there, and fly.”
“Ok.”
They climbed up the tall ladder and stood on a tiny, three foot platform. Anakin went first. He grabbed the thick chain between his hands (after thoroughly chalking them with moon-blue chalk- a bonus from the kit), Padme adjusted his wings, and he jumped.
“WOOOOHOOOOOO!!” Anakin hollered at the top of his lands while Padme watched and clapped. “This is the most fun thing I have ever done!!”
“My turn, my turn!” Padme jumped up and down on the platform, excited. Suddenly she slipped. Fortunately Anakin was just coming under the platform and she caught onto the chain. They both swung back and forth wildly.
“ANAKIN, PADME what on COURASCANT are you doin??” Obi-Wan appeared seemingly out of nowhere and stood glaring at the contraption.
“Uh…hey, master!” Anakin called out as he and Padme swung past him.
“Anakin, why are you wearing glittery wings? It’s against the Jedi Code to wear glittery wings.”
“It is?” They swung up to Obi-Wan again and Anakin let go of the chain, landing a few inches away from Obi-Wan.
“Woah! Personal space police! Personal space police!!” Two large men in black and grey uniforms rushed up. One of them pushed Anakin away from Obi-Wan. The other fanned Obi-Wan with a purple fan and wiped his face with a cool washcloth. “Oh, thank you!” Obi-Wan sighed, relieved. The two men left just as quickly as they had come.
“Uh…master?” Anakin watched the Personal Space Police Officers head off into the distance until the next personal space invasion. “What do you mean, “it’s against the Jedi Code to wear glittery wings’?”
“It’s right here.” Obi-Wan mysteriously pulled a thick book from his pocket, entitled The Official Jedi Code Book About All Things Jedi Code- What’s in the Code and What Isn’t’. And Also Anything Else to Do with Jedi.
“Wow.” Anakin said. “Catchy title.”
“Thanks.” Obi-Wan flipped to page 275. “Rule number 56,792: Jedi must never, ever, under any circumstances, wear glittery wings.”
“Oh.” Anakin plucked the wings off as Obi-Wan shut the book and slid it back into his pocket. “Sorry, master.”
“Don’t mention it. Hey, Anakin, are you thirsty?”
“Actually, I am. Swinging around in glittery wings is thirsty work. Why do you ask?”
“We could go get a couple of protein shakes.” Obi-Wan suggested.
“YUCK! Protein shakes??” Anakin shivered. “Sounds gross to me.”
“It comes in three flavors: spinach shake, carrot shake, and lasagna shake.”
“Lasagna shake…?” Anakin questioned. “That doesn’t sound very healthy.”
“You would be surprised at how good lasagna is for a Jedi’s health.” Obi-Wan insisted. “It’s my favorite food, and I own the shake company.”
“You…do??” Anakin was wide-eyed.
“Yes. And I say it’s healthy, so it is. At least at Kenobi’s Protein Shake Hut. Now, come on- do you think Padme wants to come?”
“I dunno, I’ll ask her. Padme!” Anakin yelled, watching Padme swing across their backyard on the chain. She quickly dropped off of it and ran over to the two Jedi.
“What is it, Ani?” she asked.
“Obi-Wan and I are going to go get a protein shake at Kenobi’s Protein Shake Hut. Wanna come?”
“OOOOOH, yes! I love the lasagna shake! It’s sooooo yummy! Let me get my sweater!”
By the time Padme had found just the right color sweater to go with her wings, cut holes for the wings, and got it situated just right, it was dinner time. Obi-Wan informed them that Kenobi’s Shake Hut also served dinner, so they decided to get something to eat along with their shakes. The car ride was uneventful and soon the two Jedi and the senator were seated at a table in Kenobi’s Protein Shake Hut.
“Ew…what is all of this stuff?” Anakin asked, flipping through the menu. “Everything on here is either gross or healthy.”
“What’s wrong with healthy?” Obi-Wan asked, ordering the Super-Deluxe-Healthy Hippopotamus Sandwich. “Everything here is healthy, anyway, so I suggest you pick something and like it.”
“Master, there’s nothing wrong with healthy, but…if you’re going out to eat…”
“We aren’t out, Anakin. We’re in. Inside. Inside the building. Inside Kenobi’s Protein Shake Hut.”
Anakin shrugged. “Okay, okay.” He ordered a Super-Healthy Pickle Sandwich and settled down to wait. Padme ordered the This-Tastes-Like-Cheese-But-It’s-A-Lot-Healthier side and then they talked about random things until their food arrived. Obi-Wan was just explaining to Anakin and Padme the fine points of toe-painting when their food arrived.
“You should see my room at the temple.” Obi-Wan said. “Just full of beautiful toe-paintings that I’ve created over the years.”
“Sounds interesting.” Padme said.
“Sounds gross.” Anakin looked down at his bare feet and wiggled his toes. Then Obi-Wan insisted he put his boots back on for as long as he was in Kenobi’s Protein Shake Hut. Anakin agreed.
“OOOOOOH, this is soooooo yummy!” Padme ate loads and loads of fake, ‘healthy’ cheese while Obi-Wan took enormous bites out of his Hippo-sandwich. Anakin picked at his pickle-sandwich. It tasted okay, he guessed; if you liked the taste of sawdust mixed with dog food. He managed to choke half of it down before he gave up on it.
“So,” Padme said, her mouth full of stringy fake cheese “What are we gonna do when we get back home?”
“Ew, Padme, that is sooo gross.” Anakin looked away to keep from gagging. Padme closed her mouth, swallowed the cheese and tried again.
“So, Ani, what should we do next?”
“I don’t know….flying lessons were fun, but…” Anakin shrugged. “I ended up breaking the Jedi Code. Again.”
“What do you mean ‘again’?” Obi-Wan asked, polishing off the last bite of his Hippo-sandwich. “When did you break it before?”
“When I marri-” Padme elbowed Anakin.
“What is it, Padme? Why don’t you want me to tell Obi-Wan that we-”
Padme made a face and motioned wildly with her hands.
“OOOOH charades!” Obi-Wan jiggled up and down in his chair. “I just LOVE charades! Let me see…hmm…oh, oh, I know! ‘Stop’!”
Padme nodded and swallowed her cheese. “I was trying to tell Anakin to stop, but my mouth was full, and he hates it when I talk with my mouth full, at least when I’m eating fake cheese, anyway.” She said.
“What were we talking about again?” Anakin asked. “Before the charades.”
“I was trying to figure out what to do-” Padme cut off and fixed her gaze on Obi-Wan, grinning mischievously. “Pick a word, Obi-Wan. Any word.”
“Uh…hound dog!” Obi-Wan said excitedly. “Did I win? Did I guess the right word? Did I? DID I?!?”
Padme laughed. “It wasn’t a contest, Obi-Wan. It’s what we’ll do next.”
“I have a feeling this isn’t going to be good…” Anakin sighed.
They ordered their protein shakes but Padme insisted on going home right away. They sat in the living room, sipping (or, in Anakin’s case, gagging) on their protein shakes while Padme scribbled hound dog on the arm of the couch with her sparkly pink pen. When she was done she turned to face the Jedi, hands on her hips and smiling widely.
“Okay, here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re all going to go to town and go to different pet stores. Each one of us must find and buy a hound dog, or something similar to a hound dog, then bring them back here. Ready? Go!!”
“Woah, woah, hold it there for a minute, Padme.” Anakin frowned. “What are we going to do with the hound dogs once we buy them?”
“I don’t know…I guess we see what word we can come up with next.” Padme said.
“Okay.” Anakin and Obi-Wan agreed.
Once in town, Padme headed to Oh-So-Cute! Pet Boutique while Anakin and Obi-Wan looked around for other pets stores. Anakin found one called Mean, Mean Dogs and Obi-Wan’s pet store of choice was Want a Dog? Get it Here. Padme selected a cute poodle with a round-tipped tail, Anakin chose a growling Doberman Pincher and Obi-Wan picked out a scrawny, mangy puppy with floppy ears. They reunited at Anakin and Padme’s apartment to look over the animals.
“Aw, they are all soooo cute!” Padme squealed. Anakin’s dog tried to bit Obi-Wan’s puppy, who hid under the couch. Padme immediately named her dog “Fluffy” but Anakin and Obi-Wan took longer to select their pets’ names.
“It’s going to be either “Scary”, “Mean”, or “Killer”.” Anakin announced after some deep thought.
“I don’t know…” Obi-Wan said, indecisively.
“I wish I hadn’t named my dog Fluffy.” Padme moped.
“Change it.” Anakin suggested.
“I can’t!” Padme wailed.
“Hmm…. “Scary”, “Mean”, or “Killer”…”
“Killer sounds sooooo intimidating!” Padme cried, suddenly sounding scared. “And that’s what he’s trying to do to-”
“BOZO!!” Obi-Wan yelled, grabbing his puppy from Killer’s jaws. “Bad dog!” he yelled and Killer ran off, tail tucked.
“Bozo? Who’s Bozo?” Padme asked, comforting Killer, who had run over to her.
“Bozo is my puppy.” Obi-Wan said. “Didn’t you know that?”
“No.” said Anakin.
“No.” said Padme.
“Well, now you do.” Obi-Wan said.
All three of them stared in silence.
“What do we do now?” Anakin finally ventured.
“Uh…somebody say another word, I guess.” Padme looked at the two Jedi. “One of you pick a word.”
“Uh…” Obi-Wan and Anakin said, very cautiously. “Water.” Anakin ventured at last.
“OOOH!” Padme’s eyes lit up. “Like a Water Park?? Or-”
“Like-like a glass of water!” Obi-was yelled out as he tried to stop Bozo from eating one of Padme’s favorite potted plants.
“My plaaaant!!” Padme wailed.
“STOP BOZO!!” Obi-Wan yelled.
“I’ll get the glass of water!!” Anakin yelled, for the sake of joining in yelling, and to quickly nip any of Padme’s crazy water ideas in the bud. He came back just as Obi-Wan caught Bozo and Padme fainted. Anakin tripped, accidentally spilling the water on Padme’s head. Bozo yelped, Padme moaned and Anakin landed hard on the carpet. The glass rolled into a corner, unharmed.
“Padme!!”
“Ani!”
Padme jumped up and began looking around frantically. Suddenly afraid for the sanity of his wife and thinking she had hit her head too hard, Anakin jumped up and ran over to her, holding her close to him.
“Padme are you alright?” Anakin asked softly. Padme looked up into his eyes with her own full of love. “I’m ok, Ani. I’m just looking for my sparkly pint pen.”
“Ok, as long as you’re alright…” Anakin leaned his face closer to hers.
“U-huh-hum.” Obi-Wan cleared his throat. He whistled and looked away. Anakin quickly pulled away from Padme.
“Master…?” His cheeks were bright red. “What is it?” Had Obi-Wan seen…?
“Sorry Anakin, my throat is dry. SO are my lips, now that I tried whistling. Where is that water? Oh, it spilled. Pity. I could’ve used a nice glass of water.”
“Uh, I’ll get you one right away!” Anakin cried out, rushing from the room gratefully.
“I FOOOOOUND IT
“Here you are, Master!” Anakin hurried back, handing Obi-Wan the water. Obi-Wan gulped it down, then smiled.
“That’s good water, Anakin.”
“Thanks Master.” Anakin grinned. He had known calling the Culligan Man would pay off someday!
“What now?” Padme asked. Obi-Wan and Anakin looked at each other.
“We better be careful what we say.” Obi-Wan warned.
“Yeah, like don’t’ say anything that’s dangerous, messy, or-”
“DANGEROUS?? MESSY???” Padme went wild. “We could float in a hot air balloon! Pilot Obi-Wan’s ship! Break into a separatist base and kidnap Count Dooku! Or we could bake three hundred chocolate pancakes! Try to build the leaning tower of CHEESE-uh! Or-”
Anakin and Obi-Wan exchanged looks.
“Padme…” Anakin cautioned.
“Or we could just get some rest.” Padme plopped down on the couch and turned on the TV. Within minutes they were all staring as Princess Maloloo floated on a magical butterfly across the land of Silope in a desperate attempt to save the planet. Anakin watched out of lack of anything better to do but Obi-Wan and Padme were enthralled. When the show ended Padme switched the TV off and all was silent. Then Padme said
“Well, that’s it until tomorrow night! I love this show!”
“What’s it called?” Anakin asked, just to make conversation.
“Watch Princes Maloloo float on a magical butterfly across the land of Silope in a desperate attempt to save the planet.” Padme told him.
“Catchy.” commented Anakin.
“It really captures the intent of the show.” Obi-Wan reflected. “That’s what happens every episode.”
“You mean…you’ve watched this before?” Anakin asked, incredulous.
“Yeah, I tune in every evening.”
“Wow…”
Padme stood up, stretched, and yawned. “Ani, I’m getting sleeeeepy…” She yawned again. “But I’m SO hungry. All of this excitement has made me sleepy and hungry. Excitement tends to make me sleepy and hungry.” she explained.
“Ok. What would you like to eat?” Anakin asked.
“Oh, I could go for a little something too.” Obi-Wan stood up as Anakin headed into the kitchen. HE and Padme followed.
“Whatcha gonna make, Ani?” Padme asked, sprawling across the counter.
“Not sure yet.” Anakin replied shortly, super-concentrating.
“He gets like that when he’s super-concentrating.” Padme explained.
“Aha, I see.” Obi-Wan said.
Anakin pulled an enormous pot down from the cupboard and threw open the fridge door. He pulled out celery, carrots and spinach and threw some into the pot. Then he sautéed some onion and potato slices in butter and threw them in as well.
“This could be quite tasty.” Obi-Wan said, licking his lips. “It appears that Anakin is making some kind of soup or something.”
“You never really know until he’s done.” commented Padme.
“Alright, then, it’s coming along just fine…” Anakin murmured. Suddenly, he turned the heat on high and got the mixture boiling. Obi-Wan inhaled deeply.
“Smells good.”
“Mhmm…” Padme sighed, enjoying the fragrance.
Anakin dug around in the fridge. “My secret ingredient is in here somewhere…” he mumbled.
“Whatcha looking for, Ani?” Padme asked.
“AHA!” Anakin grinned triumphantly and revealed- an enormous jar of peanut butter.
“Peanut butter?” Obi-Wan made a face. “In soup?”
“Not soup. You see.” Anakin rushed back to the stove where he proceeded to add a large amount of the gooey brown stuff. He simered it all for a long while until it was a thick mess, then he greased a baking sheet and spread the mixture over it. Popping it into the oven he smiled.
“In just twenty minutes you will taste the most delicious thing you have ever had in your entire lives...I hope.”
“I know! Yay!” Padme grinned back.
“Oh dear…” said Obi-Wan.
When the oven timer beeped, Anakin pulled the baking sheet out, cut it into tiny squares, and piled them on a plate. He set it in the center of the table and poured everyone tall glasses of milk. Padme licked her lips eagerly and Obi-Wan sniffed the squares cautiously.
“They don’t smell bad…” he admitted.
“They smell good, Ani! Can we try one?” Padme asked, barely able to contain her excitement.
“Go right ahead. Dig in! Eat as many as you’d like!” Suddenly Anakin lost it and started distributing tons of the squares to each plate. At last, when he had divided all of the food among the three of them, he yelled
“BON APPETITE!”
Padme took a huge bite right away. Obi-Wan grimaced but nibbled on one and Anakin crammed loads and loads of them into his mouth, chewing and swallowing and repeating, over and over again until his plat was empty.
“MMMM!!” he screamed.
“Yummy!!” Padme grinned.
“Anakin, these taste like…” Obi-Wan took another small bite. “Peanut butter.”
“I know! The other stuff, the spinach and stuff, it’s so small a proportion to the amount of peanut butter, it taste good!” Anakin said, mixing up his words horribly as the peanut butter gripped both his tongue and his brain.
“Hm…well, there’s nothing special about plain old peanut butter.”
“Plain old peanut butter?” Anakin picked up his glass and glug-glug-glugged until it was empty.  “Peanut butter isn’t plain, it’s AWESOME!” Then he collapsed face-first onto his plate.
“Mmm…” Padme daintily sipped her glass and smiled at Obi-Wan. “They are tasty, aren’t they?”
“They’re good, if you like peanut butter.” Obi-Wan said, eyeing Anakin’s unconscious form.
“He’s okay, don’t worry.” Padme assured him. “He’ll wake up soon.”
“Has this happened before?” Obi-Wan asked. He was afraid to hear the answer.
“All the time.” Padme finished her last square, sipped the last of her milk and started on the dishes. Obi-Wan lugged Anakin into his bedroom and plopped him on the bed.
“I just never knew…” Obi-Wan said to himself as he walked towards the Jedi temple. “I never knew Anakin liked peanut butter.”

Padme's Pregnancy Diary- Day One

I am about nine weeks pregnant today. Anakin bought me this diary so I could document it all- everything I think, fell, do. What we buy for the babies. Yes, that's right: we're having twins! One boy and one girl, if the doctor is right. Anakin and I were so surprised when we found out we were having twins! We are so excited! Right now, we're thinking of naming the boy Anakin Luke, and the girl Leia Shmi. I don't know, things might change. Originally I wanted to name a little girl "Annie", a kind of tribute to "Ani", which is Anakin's nickname. Anakin didn't like that idea though. XD

Lately I have been craving pickles and milkshakes. I've been feeling a bit tired sometimes, and occasionally I'm just totally exhausted. I'm feeling well and sometimes I get spurts of energy- but then again, that might just be from the triple-shot mochas I like to have each afternoon.

Anakin was having some nightmares about me, but he talked to Obi-Wan and is feeling a lot better about everything. We've been enjoying just chilling out, but all too soon he'll have to go to the Outer Rim...for a whole month! I am heartbroken. Anakin and I were getting along so well (bar that fight the other night, but we made it)...and now he'll miss so much about me and the babies and everything! Oh well, I ought to be grateful- he could be leaving for five months or something!! I know I'm going to miss him so very much.

Well, that's enough for one day I suppose. I need to take a nap so I can think clearly enough to make Anakin's dinner. We're having an exotic type of steak, which Anakin loves.

Padme's Pregnancy Diary

Hi everyone! On the Lakehouse Forums, I'm role-playing as Padme' Skywalker when she is pregnant with Luke and Leia. I thought it'd be fun to start writing a diary for Padme' as she waits for the twins to be born.

I'm going to be starting her at about 9 weeks pregnant as that is how I'm playing her in Your Star Wars Life, the role-play on TLH forum. I should have the first post of Padme's diary up by the end of today.

The Secret Life of Ri'ma Kenobi: Chapter Twenty-Four (WIP)

The Secret Life of Ri'ma Kenobi

Part Two: The Attack of the Clones and the Mystery Child

Chapter Twenty-Four

"Ri’ma!” Tomvin yelled again. “Don’t make me”- he pulled of a shoe- “come in there after you! I will”- off with the other shoe- “So help me, I will come after you!” Ri’ma didn’t respond and he jumped into the water. He was a much better swimmer than she was, and he soon caught up with her.
“What are you doing?” she spluttered, treading water and trying not to get a mouthful of it.
“If he really is my brother, I have to meet him!” Tomvin began swimming again and Ri’ma struggled to go more quickly. Tomvin slowed his pace so they could swim together. The boat was not far from them and only lazily floating down the stream, so they were able to catch up to it in no time. When they were a few feet from it, the young man turned around and saw them. A puzzled look fell across his face and the woman leaned over and said something to him. The man responded, and they both stared over the side of the boat as Ri’ma and Tomvin came up to it.
“What on Tattoine??” The young man rolled up his sleeves, leaned over the side of the boat, and fished Ri’ma out of the water. He set her in the middle of the boat, between himself and the beautiful woman, then he helped Tomvin in as well. They sat there, dripping, as the man and woman stared. Ri’ma began to shiver in the cool breeze and, clearing her throat, tried to explain.
“We…thought we might know you.”
The young man frowned. “I’ve never seen either one of you in my life. Why were you swimming out there? don’t you know that’s dangerous? are you two all alone?”
Ri’ma was shaking now, too cold to answer. The woman noticed and wrapped a blanket around her shoulders.
“Anakin, this little girl needs to be brought back to shore. She’s freezing. It’s much too cool a morning to go swimming.”
Ri’ma’s heart thundered in her chest. His name was Anakin! It had to be him!
“Okay…” Anakin turned the boat around. “We’ll go back.” He eyed Ri’ma up and down, from her grinning, blue-from-cold face to her wet bare feet. He seemed to be trying to place her. Ri’ma couldn’t speak, so she just grinned stupidly, excitement welling up inside of her. Tomvin’s eyes shifted back and forth from her, the woman, and Anakin. He seemed very confused and said nothing.
When the boat reached shore again, Anakin helped the woman and Ri’ma out, and Tomvin scrambled to shore himself. The woman smiled at Ri’ma and asked her where she lived.
“N-not far.” the girl managed. She was much warmer now, being away from the cool breeze blowing off of the water, and her excitement would no longer wait. “Y-you’re Anakin S-skywalker, aren’t you?”
Anakin looked startled. “Uh…yes, yes I am. How did you know that?”
Ri’ma giggled and threw her arms around him, startling him all the more. Her cheek pressed against his Jedi tunic she said “I’m Ri’ma Kenobi!” In her excitement she forgot that that name was supposed to be a secret. Gasping, she recovered, then stared up at Anakin’s face, her greenish-blue eyes sparkling and dancing. Anakin’s own blue eyes were cloudy for just half a moment before, looking down into her face, he said
“Ri’ma? Little Ri’ma Kenobi?”
She nodded and he burst out laughing. While the woman and Tomvin looked on, completely baffled, Anakin took Ri’ma up in his arms and swung her around. When he set her down his eyes danced with mischief. “I shouldn’t have done that. I don’t expect it’s proper.” he said with a sly smile. Ri’ma just giggled.
“Ani, who is this?”
Anakin looked at the woman shyly, which Ri’ma found to be quite odd. “She’s an old friend. She was just a baby when I was her age. I helped take care of her, all the time.” Suddenly Anakin looked strangely guilty, as though he had said something he shouldn’t have.
“Ani…did you say her last name is Kenobi?”
Anakin just nodded, still looking guilty. Ri’ma realized that he hadn’t meant to reveal so much about her- she obviously didn’t know that he had told Obi-Wan that his secret was’ safe with him’, but she figured that was true.
“Is she a relation of Obi-Wan’s?”
Anakin quickly changed the subject, turning to Ri’ma. “How do you remember me? You weren’t but a few weeks old when we parted.
“My mother told me all about you, and I pieced that together with my memories.” Ri’ma replied. Then her curious nature came out. “Who is the woman with you?”
Anakin colored up to his forehead. “Her name is Padme’ Amidala. She’s a senator. I was…escorting her here. She needed to come home.”
“Then why did you-” Ri’ma stopped, catching herself. What business was it of hers if Anakin kissed a senator? Still, she wanted to find out. Maybe she could ask him another time, when Padme’ wasn’t with him. She didn’t want to embarrass him. “It’s so good to see you again, Anakin!” she said instead.
Anakin grinned. “You don’t know how pleased I am to see you!” he said, in the most sincere tone. He looked at her with such fondness in those big baby blues of his that Ri’ma felt something turn inside of her. Then he flashed her one of those oh-so-familiar, winning smiles of his and her heart skipped a beat.
“Anakin…” she changed the subject, trying not to blush “This is your brother, Tomvin.”
“My…brother?”
“Half-brother.” Tomvin corrected. “We think.”
“How…what…” Anakin fumbled for words.
“His mother was Shmi Skywalker before she married again.” Ri’ma explained.
“Shmi…Skywalker?” Anakin was shocked. “I’ve been having dreams about her, and-” Padme’ sent him a warning look and he broke off.
“What dreams?” Ri’ma’s curiosity was peaked.
“There a little to scary for me to tell you about. I…I just had some bad dreams about her. I wish very badly to see my mother, but I can’t…” He trailed off and sighed, staring into the distance as though he were seeing those dreams now. Ri’ma stuck her tiny hand into his large one and smiled up at her handsome young uncle.
“It’s okay, Anakin.” she said soothingly. “I’m sure your mother is just fine. Dreams don’t mean anything.”
Anakin looked down at her, a strange heaviness in his blue eyes, and said nothing.

Chapter Twenty-Three

“So... Anakin Skywalker is my brother?” Tomvin was wide-eyed. Ri’ma nodded.
“Yes. He is your half-brother, just like Owen is your half-brother.”
“And her name was Skywalker, before it was Lars! So I was right, my mother was married before, and had a child.”
“Not…not exactly.” Ri’ma wasn’t sure quite how to explain Anakin’s past. Tomvin looked puzzled, so Ri’ma just shook her head.
“Never mind. The important thing is that Anakin is your brother. I bet you’d like to know more about him?”
“Yes, please!” Tomvin said, looked rather anxious to get on with it.
“Well…” Ri’ma struggled hard to figure out how to explain the boy who meant so much to her, yet who she had never really known. “I…well…he’s nineteen now. He was out age when I was a baby. He was the Padawan of my father, Obi-Wan.” Suddenly Ri’ma sucked in air; why was she telling a complete stranger her secrets? She had forgotten! How had this happened?? Her mother would be-
“What’s the matter?” Tomvin asked. Ri’ma just sighed.
“Anyway, he was a Jedi. Well, he was learning to be a Jedi. Maybe he is one now, I don’t know.”
“What’s a Jedi?” Tomvin asked, puzzled once more.
“It’s…well…they fight with glowing sticks of light, and…” How was she to explain it all? The Masters, the Jedi code, the rule of no attachments…?
“I mean…what makes a Jedi special?”
Suddenly it clicked. “The Jedi can use the force. Everyone has some, but the Jedi have learned to use their power, and they help people with it.” Ri’ma explained. “With the force they can move things, or fight…it’s kind of like making wind come out of your hand.”
“That sounds…weird.” Tomvin made a face. “My brother is a Jedi?”
“Yes, but being a Jedi is a good thing!” Ri’ma insisted. “And our brother-”
Just then the young man helped the beautiful woman step back into the boat. He readjusted his peasant shirt and prepared to step in after her, but before he did, he turned and looked directly at Ri’ma. Ri’ma began to smile, as she normally did when she and someone else’s eyes met, but something stopped her. His blue eyes were so dark, so serious…that set mouth…the Padawan braid… Ri’ma choked on air and, sputtering, mind-whirling, she sat down on the ground, hard. Tomvin, startled, quickly moved to help her up. As she rose off of the ground, clinging to Tomvin’s arm, her eyes did not move from off of the young man’s face.
“What is it?” Tomvin asked, confused.
“I…I think that is your brother.” Ri’ma whispered.
“My brother? You’ve got to be kidding! You said my brother lived far away from here! Why on Naboo would he be…on Naboo.”
They giggled, neither knowing exactly why. It wasn’t that funny, not with such a serious situation at hand. Suddenly, Ri’ma just lost it, buckling over with laughter that brought tears to her eyes. Tomvin chuckled, then watched her until she stopped and attempted to breath normally again.
“What is it?” he asked as she wiped her eyes on the sleeve of her dress.
“That…is…the boy…I was just telling you about, your brother! And he’s here, here of all places!” she giggled, then froze, a serious look covering her face, her eyes staring off as though she was seeing something far away and long ago. “I haven’t seen him in nine years! I…I have to see him!”
“Ri’ma, wait-”
But Ri’ma had already torn her shoes off and was in the water, swimming after the boat.

Chapter Twenty-Two

“Sorry!” Ri’ma gasped as she crashed into a little boy who was not much older than herself. “I’m sooo sorry…” she murmured. Then she froze. He looked so familiar, like someone she’d seen long ago and far away…Hann…Anne…
…Anakin. That was it…the boy looked exactly like Anakin…Skywalker. That was it, Anakin Skywalker! He had Anakin’s dirty-blond hair…Anakin’s big blue eyes…Anakin’s crooked smile…he was even the right age: about ten years old!
“Anakin…?” Ri’ma murmured.
“Excuse me?” The boy smiled kindly at her with warmth in his eyes, so much like the boy she remembered.
“Is your name Anakin Skywalker?” It couldn’t be. After all, she had been a baby when she had met Anakin. Nine years had passed. Nine years since he was ten… Ri’ma counted on her fingers. Anakin Skywalker was nineteen years old now. And he lived far, far away, on some strange planet called Coursacant, not here on Naboo. But maybe he was Anakin’s brother or cousin? Brother. He had to be Anakin’s brother. This boy just looked way too much like Anakin to be anyone else.
“Uh…sorry. I’ve never heard of any Anakin Skywalker.” He smiled apologetically. “My name is Tomvin Lars. What’s your name?”
“Ri’ma Plthoon.”
They smiled at each other for a moment.
“So, who’s this Anakin fellow, and do I look like him?” Tomvin asked, flashing a charming smile Ri’ma’s way. Ri’ma melted inside and grinned back.
“Well, he’s a boy I knew a long time ago, when I lived somewhere else.” she explained. “He was about my age when I was born. I’m nine now.”
“I’m nine too.” Tomvin said with a grin. “Do you want to play with me at my house? I mean, we’re the same age after all.”
“But you don’t even know me…! You just met me!”
Tomvin laughed. “Well, I wish I had met you a lot sooner.”
Ri’ma blushed under his heavy gaze. “Well, I…”
She trailed off as a Naboo boat sailed past them and docked at the rose-covered harbor. Ri’ma’s eyes lit up as the most beautiful woman she had ever seen before got off the boat, helped by tall young man in peasant clothes. The woman had dark, silky hair tucked into a spiraling sea-shell behind her head and a long, flowy, rainbow-colored dress draped about her. The woman caught Ri’ma’s stare and smiled at her. Ri’ma, feeling somehow giddy inside, smiled back. Oh, if only she could ever be that beautiful!!
Something twisted inside of her as she eyed the young man, however. He was tall, with dark blond hair and piercing blue eyes. Down the side of his slim face hung a long, thin braid…A Padawan braid Ri’ma thought with some surprise. He didn’t notice her watching him, however; all of his attentions were focused on the beautiful young woman.
“Whatcha looking at?” Tomvin’s young voice cut through her thoughts.
“One day, I’ll be as beautiful as she is!” Ri’ma burst out. Tomvin eyed her oddly and she colored. “Um…I…”
“I think you’re more beautiful than she ever could be.” Tomvin said quietly. Ri’ma looked at his deep eyes and saw nothing but sincerity in them. Suddenly she colored even more as she realized what he had just said and its implications. He thought she was beautiful.
“Th-thank you.” she managed.
“Hey, want to come to my house? You could meet my dad.”
Ri’ma nodded, only half hearing. She was watching the beautiful woman and the serious young man. They were talking softly together, it seemed, although Ri’ma was much too far away to hear the words. Suddenly the young man got an odd sparkle in his eye and the two kissed, much to Ri’ma’s disgust. She looked away quickly.
“Ew…” she groaned. Tomvin, who had seen it too, laughed. “Maybe when we’re older, we’ll understand.”
“I doubt it…” Ri’ma muttered.”
“So, do you wanna go meet my dad, now that all that’s over with?” Tomvin asked with a laugh.
“Sure.” Ri’ma grinned. “But…why don’t you have a mom?”
“I do. My dad’s here on business and he took me with him. My mom stayed home. I also have an older brother- well, a step-brother. His name is Owen. He’s a lot older than me. My dad used to be married to someone else, and they had Owen. But when the woman, Owen’s mom, died, my dad ended up marrying again. He and my mom had me.” Tomvin explained. “And I think I know a secret.”
“What?” Ri’ma asked, perking up. She absolutely adored secrets.
“I think I had another brother. One time I heard dad and mom talking about him. I think my mom used to be married and had him, then her husband died, just like what happened with my dad. Only, I don’t know why the other brother doesn’t live with us too.” Tomvin looked sad. “I wonder what he looked like, what his personality was…”
Suddenly Ri’ma’s heart stopped in her chest.
“I…I think I can tell you some of that.” she said quietly. She had finally figured out why Tomvin Lars looked so very much like Anakin Skywalker.

The Secret Life of Ri'ma Kenobi: Chapter Twenty-One (WIP)

Here's the beginning of part two, which coincides with the second movie in the trilogy, The Attack of the Clones.

The Secret Life of Ri'ma Kenobi

Part Two: The Attack of the Clones and the Mystery Child

Chapter Twenty-One

Ri’ma Eliana Kenobi yawned and watched for her mother, Eirtae’, to appear in the doorway of their Naboo lakehouse. It was a lonely thing to sit and wait every day, but her mother had to work so that they could eat. After all, with her father away…
Her father. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ri’ma’s father, lived on the planet Courascant, in the Jedi temple. Years ago, when she had been just a little baby, her father had sent her and her mother away, for fear people would find out that he was married. A Jedi must never marry, or even form attachments. Obi-Wan disagreed with the Jedi Code and had married Eirtae’. Ri’ma had been born just a year later, and shortly after her birth, her father had sent them her, to Naboo. Ri’ma wished she could be with him, but she could not. She could not even use his name, but went by a hiding name, Plthoon. Her only consolation was that it sounded sort of Jedi-ish, and reminded her of her father ever time it was spoken.
“Ri’ma, where are you?”
Eirtae’ appeared in the doorway and her nine-year-old daughter ran to embrace her. “Mother, I missed you so!”
“I know, hon, I know…” Eirtae’ held her daughter close and fought back the tears that threatened to spill from her eyelids. After a moment, she held the girl at arms’ length to study her. She was the epitome of beauty, with her small, delicate features, her long eyelashes, her beautiful, soft hair. She was so grown up. Eirtae’ could very much see her husband Obi-Wan in the child- in fact, the more the child grew, the more she favored her father and the less her mother. Even the blond hair the child had once possessed had changed to a darker, redder color like her father’s.
“Ri’ma, it’s time for lunch.” Eirtae’ forced herself to stand up, although her legs were shaking. It had been nine long years since she had seen Obi-Wan. Her heart throbbed for longing to see him. Ri’ma caught the look in her mother’s eyes and smiled sadly. Eirtae’ was so proud of her daughter! She was so smart, so keen, so aware…Obi-Wan would be proud.
Obi-Wan….now that was a name that she had not said, save in whispers to herself or Ri’ma, for a long time…a long time…

The Secret Life of Ri'ma Kenobi

Part One: The Phantom Menace and Secret Romance

Chapter Twenty

“Anakin, never forget this precious year we’ve had together.”
The boy, now ten years of age, nodded as Obi-Wan crouched beside him. Tears filled his large blue eyes and he at last could hold them back no longer. Weeping, he hugged his Master’s neck.
“Why must Eirtae’ and Ri’ma go away?” he sobbed.
Obi-Wan felt his heart wrenching in two. His beloved wife and their beautiful baby daughter were going to Naboo. To stay. Yesterday, them all escaping together, had almost cost Obi-Wan being a Jedi when Master Yoda had flown right by their speeder. Thankfully, he was looking the other way, and they weren’t caught. But Obi-Wan and Eirtaa’ had talked it over and decided that it was just too risky, them living there. Now that they had a baby, their secret would not stay one for very long. Eirtae’ could not stay in their apartment forever, and baby Ri’ma looked far too much like her father for curious observers and the keen and intelligent Jedi to put two and two together. Besides, they could not have Ri’ma growing up locked into the apartment, and never seeing sunshine or grass, never smelling flowers. And Courascant was not the most habitable place for a little one to grow up in, even in better times. And now, after the fire... The decision had been made. It was breaking his heart, but he must send his wife and daughter away. For now. Until times were better and their marriage, and Ri’ma, need no longer be kept a secret. For now, for now…
“I loved her.” Anakin sobbed. “I know that I’ll always love her.”
Obi-Wan watched the refugee ship sail off with such precious cargo inside, and he returned his Padawan’s tears. Until they returned, his knew his heart would never heal.

The Secret Life of Ri'ma Kenobi

Part One: The Phantom Menace and Secret Romance

Chapter Nineteen

The baby girl was loved and adored by all of those around her: her proud papa, who cradled her tiny form in his strong arms and rocked her to sleep; her proud mama, who cared for her every need and ran at the sound of her whimper; and, last but most certainly not least, her honorary uncle, Anakin Skywalker, who treated her like she would break if he simply looked at her wrong. He fussed over the infant almost as much as her mother did, and if anyone was ever looking for the boy, they had only to find Ri'ma, and there he would be. Countless afternoons and evenings were spent as he huddled over her cradle, watching her sleeping form, counting her tiny fingers and ties, and gasping if she sighed. The baby had beautiful, downy-soft strawberry-blond hair and greenish-blue eyes with the longest lashes ever beheld by man. Anakin was completely smitten and if he hadn't been so much in love with senator Amidala, Obi-Wan feared he would have wanted to marry his daughter when she was grown.

One fine afternoon, just as spring was coming again, and Anakin was in his normal position leaning over baby Ri'ma's cradle, an alarming sound poured through the open windows and rattled the house. The baby began to wail and Anakin took her into his arms and held her close to him as Obi-Wan rushed outside to see what the ruckus was. Eirtae' came out of the bedroom where she had been napping, tying the tie to her robe.

"Anakin, what's that noise?"

Anakin shrugged and yielded the baby to her mama with a little sigh. "I'm not sure. Obi-Wan went to check it out."

Eirtae' rocked the baby but the noise continued and the infant would not be calmed. Anakin shifted impatiently, plugging his ears against the racket. Eirtae' hurried to shut the windows. After several minutes of waiting, the front door flew open and Obi-Wan came bursting in.

"Eirtae', Anakin, fire! There's fire!"

"Fire?!" Eirtae' panicked. Obi-Wan began packing everything he could as quickly as possible. Eirtae' thrust baby Ri'ma into Anakin's arms and ran off to dress. Anakin held the child to his chest and shushed her, rocking back and forth as best he could on his short legs. Within ten minutes they were outside and Obi-Wan was telling them what to do.

"Anakin, you have to escort Eirtae' and the baby. I can't afford being seen with them. You must take them by the back roads to the temple. I will be waiting with a speeder. Try not to be seen, and hurry."

"Where's the fire?" Eirtae' managed to ask.

"Towards the middle of the city. It's far away now, but it'll spread before we know it. It's not safe being here anymore." Obi-Wan gave Eirtae' a quick kiss and tenderly caressed his sleeping daughter's downy head before disappearing down the street with the luggage. Anakin led Eirtae' on, who held the sleeping infant. After the sound of the alarm, the silence was ghastly, foreboding. Anakin's heart thundered in his chest as they hurried through the quickly-forming crowd. No matter what happened, he would get them to the temple safely. Then they would leave this dangerous place.

The Secret Life of Ri'ma Kenobi

Part One: The Phantom Menace and Secret Romance

Chapter Eighteen

"Uh..." Obi-Wan studied the serious face of Master Mace Windu as the older Jedi stared at him with suspicion in his face.

"Where are you going, Master Kenobi?"

What could Obi-Wan say?

"Uh...uh..."

CRASH!! Both Jedi tore out of the temple to find out what was happening outside. As Obi-Wan went through the door he felt a sharp pull on his arm and he was yanked behind the building. He whirled to face his attacker, who was-

"Anakin??"

"SHHH! Come on!"

Anakin grabbed Obi-Wan's hand and started running towards the apartment. In less than five minutes they were there and Obi-Wan was by Eirtae's side.

"Eirtae'..." he murmured. Anakin made himself comfortable in another room while Obi-Wan comforted his laboring wife. After several hours, he emerged holding a well-wrapped bundle. Anakin jumped up off of the living room couch and stared at his Master. There were tears in his eyes as he announced

"It's a baby girl. We've decided to call her Ri'ma Eliana Kenobi."

Grinning, Anakin raced over to adore his honorary niece.
